We’re in a strange spot with Fortnite Season 3 updates, with v13.10 seemingly skipped or released under our noses. Last week, we saw the Firefly Jar come to the game in what seemed to be a hotfix, but then saw the news that v13.20 would go live this week. We don’t know exactly what happened, there, but it looks like we’re onto v13.20.
We’re writing this ‘what to expect’ article before the announcement of the v13.20 patch, but nearly all of the Fortnite data miners are claiming that it’s coming this week. Tuesday has been the traditional patch day for Fortnite updates, so it stands to reason that we’ll be getting a patch on June 30. If not, then all of this information will apply when it does go live. Now, onto our predictions.
Water level change
According to Lucas7Yoshi, the water level is supposed to go down for the first time in Season 3, following the v13.20 patch. We should see the water level lower on July 1, according to reports.

This first stage of the water recession may not reveal very much. We predict that some of the flooded POIs will uncover a bit more land, but we’re probably a week or two away from the full-fledged introduction of a new location.
The most that we can hope for is that one of the underwater POIs – such as Craggy or The Shark – will surface when the water starts to recede. We’ll have to wait and see, but the water going down is a safe bet.
There were two leaked weapons included in the Season 3 game files that weren’t in the loot pool upon the launch of the new season. These were the Firefly Jar and the Flare Gun.
The Firefly Jar was released last week, which means we can safely assume that the Flare Gun is next. Epic appear to be frequently bringing new items to the game, just as they had in Chapter 1. If this is true, then it would make the most sense to see the Flare Gun in v13.20.
As always, epic will be taking aim at some of the more prevalent bugs with the v13.20 patch. This is the first major patch of Season 3, so there are a lot of bugs that need fixing. Here are all of the issues that are listed as “Fixed in Next Game Update” on the Fortnite Community Issues Trello board:
- Missing styles for the Specialist Pickaxe and Arroyo Pack Back Bling.
- Rage Emote fire effect remaining on/near players.
- Emotes playing over Main Stage music in Party Royale.
- Sandstorm Outfit missing hair.
- Fall damage from Ziplines when landing in shallow water.
- Epic & Legendary SMGs sometimes cannot be Sidegraded.
- Damaging Marauders counting towards Storm Surge.
- Chug Splash does not heal when thrown inside of a bush.
- Supply Drops may sometimes push loot under the map.
There may be some additional changes or updates that we didn’t see coming, but these are the most likely aspects to change following the v13.20 update. As always, we’ll have you covered with the full patch notes, all of the leaked skins, and everything else that comes out of the update, so stay tuned!
